For Their Own Good (1993)

The thorny issue of a woman's right to have a family versus the employer's interests, is given a new twist in this TV movie. Produced by Jon Avnet (director of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe), this stars Elizabeth Perkins as a young woman who challenges her employer's ultimatum that she agree to a sterilisation or lose her job. A strong cast includes Charles Haid from TV's Hill Street Blues and Laura San Giacomo, still best known for sex, lies, and videotape. Thought-provoking stuff.
